Burlat Cherry

Burlat Cherry – The first cherry of the season, a must-have in any family orchard.

Fruit Description: Medium to large heart-shaped cherry, rounded. Dark red skin, shiny when ripe. Red flesh, juicy and sweet, with a firm texture characteristic of heart-shaped cherries. Sweet and balanced flavor.

Uses: Excellent table cherry to be eaten fresh. Ideal for desserts, clafoutis, and jams. Its firmness also makes it suitable for processing.

Harvest: May to June, depending on climatic conditions. First cherry of the season, highly valued for its early ripening.

Storage: Fragile, to be consumed quickly after harvest. Stores for 3 to 5 days in the refrigerator.

Pollination: Self-sterile variety, requires a compatible pollinator (Napoleon, Van, Summit). Associate with other heart-shaped cherry trees for optimal fruiting.

Disease Resistance: Good general resistance. Susceptible to brown rot in humid conditions. Monitor during harvest season.

History: French variety obtained in Lyon at the beginning of the 20th century. It has become the most cultivated cherry in France due to its early ripening and taste quality.
