Summit Cherry – A large, late-ripening red cherry, one of the most productive and popular in family orchards.
Fruit Description: Very large, heart-shaped Bigarreau cherry. Dark red, shiny skin when ripe. Red flesh, firm, juicy, and very sweet. One of the largest cherries available.
Use: Excellent fresh eating cherry. Ideal for desserts, clafoutis, and jams. Its impressive size makes it a very popular variety in markets.
Harvest: June to July, late variety. Extends the cherry season after early varieties.
Storage: Good shelf life after harvest. Stores for 5 to 7 days in the refrigerator.
Pollination: Self-sterile variety. Pair with Burlat, Van, or Napoleon for effective cross-pollination.
Disease Resistance: Good general resistance. Vigorous and productive tree, well-suited to French soil.
History: Canadian variety selected in the 20th century for its exceptional size and taste quality. Very popular in Europe for family and professional orchards.
