A very old and prestigious French variety, the Calville Blanc d'Hiver is a winter apple highly prized for its characteristic ribbed shape and exceptional flavor. Considered one of the best eating apples in the world!

🍎 Fruit description

A large apple with a characteristic Calville ribbed cone shape. The skin is smooth and thin, ranging in color from pale yellow to greenish-white, sometimes with a slight pinkish tinge on the sun-exposed side. The flesh is white, fine-grained, tender, very juicy, and exceptionally fragrant. It has a remarkably balanced sweet and tart flavor with complex and delicate aromas reminiscent of banana and tropical fruits.

🥧 Usage

An excellent eating apple, considered one of the best for savoring. Ideal for fresh juice thanks to its very juicy and fragrant flesh. Perfect for premium cider. Also suitable for tarts, compotes, and delicate pastries where it imparts an exceptional flavor. A versatile fruit of very high quality.

📅 Harvest

October to November. Harvesting takes place when the fruit detaches easily from the tree. Harvest is generally regular.

🏺 Conservation

Excellent storage life of 4 to 6 months in a cool, well-ventilated cellar. Best enjoyed from December to April. The apple fully develops its complex aromas after a few weeks of storage.

🐝 Pollination

Self-sterile variety requiring a pollinator. Good pollinators: Reine des Reinettes, Belle de Boskoop, Jacques Lebel, Reinette Clochard. Mid-season to late flowering. Good productivity.

🛡️ Disease resistance

Moderate susceptibility to scab and powdery mildew. Requires regular preventative treatments. Variety that adapts well to different climates. Prefers temperate climates.
