An old and hardy French variety, the Reinette Clocharde is a winter apple highly prized for its exceptional flavor and very long shelf life. A Reinette with character for lovers of authentic apples!

🍎 Fruit description

A medium to large apple, flattened and regular in shape. The skin is rough, thick, and yellowish-brown to reddish-brown with lighter areas and sometimes russet mottling. A characteristic Reinette apple surface. The flesh is yellowish-white, firm, crisp, very juicy, and fragrant. The flavor is well-balanced sweet and tart with rich, complex aromas reminiscent of hazelnut, dried fruit, and mild spices.

🥧 Usage

An excellent eating apple. Also suitable for tarts and compotes where it retains its texture well. A versatile fruit highly prized by connoisseurs.

📅 Harvest

October to November. Harvesting takes place when the fruit detaches easily from the tree. The harvest is generally regular and abundant.

🏺 Conservation

Excellent storage life of 5 to 7 months in a cool, well-ventilated cellar. Best enjoyed from December to May. The apple improves with age, fully developing its complex aromas and characteristic flavor. One of the best apples for long-term storage.

🐝 Pollination

Self-sterile variety requiring a pollinator. Good pollinators: Reine des Reinettes, Belle de Boskoop, Jacques Lebel, Reinette de Caux. Mid-season to late flowering. Good productivity.

🛡️ Disease resistance

Good overall disease resistance. Fair resistance to scab and powdery mildew. Hardy and vigorous variety, well-suited to cool, damp climates. Adapts well to the conditions of western France.
