Marcelle Chasset Plum – A treasure of French fruit heritage, created in 1905 by Louis Chasset.
Fruit Description: A magnificent large, oval plum with delicate purple skin. Succulent yellow flesh, firm texture, perfectly balanced sweetness, abundant juice, and exceptionally rich aroma. One of the most beautiful plums in French heritage.
Use: Excellent fresh eating plum. Ideal for desserts, jams, and tarts. Its firm and juicy flesh makes it perfect for all culinary preparations.
Harvest: Mid-September, a particularly late variety. Extends the plum season into autumn.
Storage: Good keeping quality. Stores for 2 to 3 weeks in cold storage.
Pollination: Partially self-fertile variety. Production improved with cross-pollination (Reine Claude Dorée, Stanley).
Disease Resistance: Good general resistance. A vigorous tree that is not very susceptible to common diseases.
History: A variety created in 1905 by the talented Louis Chasset. A treasure of French fruit heritage to be preserved and promoted.
