Reine Claude Oullins Plum – Large yellow greengage, an excellent pollinator and very productive variety.
Fruit Description: Voluminous yellow plum covered with a characteristic white bloom. Greenish flesh, firm, juicy, and aromatic, though moderately sweet. Pit easily separates from the flesh.
Use: Particularly suited for processing: excellent in preserves, jams, and compotes. Can also be eaten fresh.
Harvest: Late July to mid-August. Very productive, with yields sometimes inconsistent year to year.
Storage: Stores for 2 to 3 weeks in a cold room. Good shelf life after harvest.
Pollination: Excellent pollinator for other plum trees. Late blooming, resistant to spring frosts. Pair with Reine Claude Dorée, Stanley, or Queen Victoria.
Disease Resistance: Good overall resistance. Vigorous and hardy tree, low maintenance.
History: Variety appeared in Ain around 1860. Very popular in French family orchards for its productivity and versatility.
